YOUNG PEOPLE

The Russian Cultural Centre and Friends of the Russian Cultural Centre sponsor several events each year for young people. The future of Russian American relations is in their hands.

FRCC annual Chrismas Ball for University students at the RCC. The Students comprise the RCC/FRCC University Board representing 52 colleges and universities.

University Board students provide course books from their schools which show the courses in Russian language, history, literature and other Russian studies which are taught at American universities.

Children's Saturday School at the RCC. See "Humanitarian" section of the web site for detailed description of the school.

Performance by hearing-impaired mimes from St. Petersburg for children at the RCC. Proceeds to Russian Orphange Assn, Novgorod.

Tour of RCC by Association of students from several American colleges followed by question and answer session (2002).

RCC sponsors trip of young Russian students which perform for American students in Kalamazoo, Michigan (2000).

Each year the RCC/FRCC hosts Girls Scout Troops and Boy Scout Troops who are learning about Russia, and about Scouting in Russia (2003).

RCC/FRCC and University of Arizona Lacrosse Team to create an instructional video on Lacrosse, with Russian translation, to be shown to girls schools and women's colleges in Russia (2001).

The RCC/FRCC sponsored cultural exchange gifts for the Russian Little League baseball team from Khovrino, Russia, competing in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania (2003).

RCC/FRCC hosts Maria's Children, a group of handicapped but artistically talented children from Moscow, and Washington, D.C. children aspiring to a media career. See "Humanitarian" web page.

Seminar and discussion with American high school students from Jefferson High School in Virginia who are studying Russia, and a panel of RCC staff members.

High school lecture by RCC Director on historic Samantha Smith visit to Russia, at Holton-Arms School, Bethesda, Maryland.
