DIRECTIONS TO RUSSIAN CULTURAL CENTRE 1825 PHELPS PLACE NW RCC phone: 202-265-3840 From Massachusetts Ave./ Wisconsin Ave. intersection: From the intersection of Massachusetts and Wisconsin Avenues (near Washington Cathedral): Down Mass. Ave, past the Vice President's residence, over the bridge, past Mosque and Turkish Embassy on left---when you see Japanese Embassy on the right, turn left up California Street 3 blocks to the top of the hill---turn right (you can only turn right)---one half block on the left is Russian Cultural Centre. Front entrance is under the Russian flag. From Connecticut Ave - going north from Dupont Circle Above Dupont Circle, when you cross "S" Street---go slow and get in left lane and look for St. Margaret's Church. At the church there is a cut-through the divider where you can turn left up the hill (on Bancroft Street). At top of hill is Phelps Place---turn right. RCC is one block down on right---surrounded by tall iron fence. Front entrance is under the Russian flag. By Metro Red Line - Exit at DuPont Circle toward "Q Street North." Walk up on left side of Connecticut Ave; when cross "S" Street you will see, and pass, St. Margaret's church (Bancroft Street); the next street is LeRoy Place (Marriott hotel on corner)--turn left up LeRoy, at the top of hill is Phelps Place--on the right you will see tall iron fence of RCC---walk around to front on Phelps Place and enter up steps under Russian Flag. The walk from Dupont Circle metro exit is 10-15 minutes. From the North and Washington Beltway I-95 south to Washington beltway (495) toward "Silver Spring", and exit at "Connecticut Avenue" south (go toward Chevy Chase, not toward Kensington). Down Connecticut Avenue into city, past Marriott hotel on right---at 2600 block you will pass Calvert Street, then cross the bridge with Lion Sculptures, after bridge veer left and through the "S" curve----pass Wyoming Ave (2100 block) and take next right onto California Street (turn before Churchill hotel). Up one long block to Phelps Place---turn left---1825 is on the left (iron fence; Russian flag above entrance.) From Virginia Take your choice of bridges into Georgetown. Up Wisconsin Avenue, pass Russian Embassy on left (two large white buildings) to intersection of Massachusetts Ave. Turn right on Massachusetts---and pick up directions above: "From Massachusetts Ave./Wisconsin Ave. intersection." |
